Catching up...

I keep meaning to update on things going on out here, and it's been 2 weeks since I've had those intentions! So here's a quick little update...

Father's Day was a little hectic for us. I'd planned on fixing a big Sunday lunch for Tate, my Dad and for Tate's Dad. But Sterling (Tate's Dad) ended up going into the hospital for stomach pains that he had been struggling with since we got back from San Antonio. He ended up having emergency surgery because of perforated diverticulitis (basically his colon burst and his abdominal cavity was filling up with infected pus!). He has had a hard time recovering and is still in the hospital, but we're hoping he'll get to leave this week. He is still very weak and dealing with pain, so keep him in your prayers!

Here is one picture of my Dad, Truett the 3rd, little Truett and Tate before lunch on Fathers Day.

We've also started potty training Truett...................Let's just say we've had some great moments, some pretty strange moments and some really hard moments as well. The hard moments are more because he's 3, and that explains a lot. The great moments are just wonderful, when the whole family is dancing, singing and clapping because of poop! I never knew the training would be so hard on the parent, so I am very thankful that the Lord gives us a new day with new strength!

And here is my super-duper pooper! Thankfully he's not old enough to get mad at me yet for posting this picture, but it's just too cute.

So that's all for now, I'll post more after I catch up on some rest!

San Antonio Trip

Tate's parents took us to San Antonio this past weekend for a fun little mini-vacation. I haven't been to San Antonio in years, so it was fun to experience it again with my husband and 3 YEAR OLD TODDLER (no sarcasm intended). I was a little worried about how I would handle all the walking around in the heat and humidity being in my 8th month of pregnancy, but I handled it pretty well. We ended up getting in the water most days, so we didn't die of heat stroke!

We stopped in Fredricksburg on the way down to San Antonio (a must), and ate at a great German cafe. We made it to San Antonio in time for a little nap then headed to the River Walk where we rode the boats and ate some really good Mexican food. The only thing that would have made it better would have been a really good margarita. I'll have to wait a few more months. :)

We had to play in the pool at the hotel, Truett got pretty bossy telling Tate how to swim and where to take him. He did pretty well, this being the first time in a big pool.

We got to Sea World around 9 to feed the dolphins, my favorite part! When the time came for Truett to drop the fish in the dolphin's mouth, he just dropped it. I guess a big mouth full of sharp teeth could scare a little kid.

This is in front of the Clydesdale Horse barn. What a cute family!

This is the only ride they would allow me to ride, being in the "condition" I'm in. I had fun though, Truett liked rocking the egg and making it go "weally fast".

Truett and Tate after getting splashed by the killer whales. Truett couldn't decide if he liked it or not, he alternated between laughing and crying.

We tried getting Truett to go into the bird house with us, but I have to admit it was a little scary to have half a dozen bird landing on your arms and head. So the Sea World lady let Truett and I back in to let him experience it with just one bird. He did much better.

We spent most of the afternoon at the Lost Lagoon in the kiddie park. This was a really cool attraction, a big "building" that leaked water and allowed you to squirt water on the people below. I think Tate had more fun blasting people below with the water pistols.

This is our last group picture before we headed out. Tate and his Dad were about to ride the Steel Eel, the huge roller coaster. What a great time we had! Thanks Gramma and Grampa!

On our way home, we HAD to stop in Fredericksburg again to go to a bakery (I of course got some really good goodies), and the guys wanted to go to the Fredericksburg Brewery for some beer. Truett was not drinking here, only my honey. :)

We had a wonderful time in San Antonio. We all hated to leave, but I think we we were all exhausted. Who knows when we'll get to do it again once Liam gets here.
